Biography
Thomas probably came from the family of Barry which owned the manor of Eastleigh and lands at Winscott near Barnstaple.1 In May 1416, as executor of the will of Simon Barry of Barnstaple, he was pardoned his outlawry in London for failing to appear in court to answer a suit of debt for £8 brought by a London fishmonger; and another kinsman, Walter Barry, sat for Barnstaple in the Parliament of 1422. But Thomas himself lived in Plympton: in 1427 and 1429 he was engaged in suits for debt and trespass at courts held in West Plympton and North Tawton.2
