Biography
William Roscarrock is an obscure figure; apart from his Membership of Mary’s second Parliament all that is known about him is that in 1555 he attended the tin coinage at Truro. When he entered the Commons in 1554 he did so in the company of his brother Richard as one of the knights for Cornwall: the other knight, Sir John Arundell, was constable of Tintagel castle, which overlooked Bossiney, and he presumably added his authority there to Richard Roscarrock’s to ensure William Roscarrock’s election. It is a fair inference that Roscarrock shared the orthodoxy of his brother and of Arundell.2
