Biography
As a boy of 13 Bunny was at Basle with his family. His elder brother, a minister, was at one time chaplain to the 2nd Earl of Bedford. Bunny became a servant of George, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, and it was no doubt as Shrewsbury’s deputy keeper of Pontefract park that he came to represent a duchy borough in Parliament. He is not mentioned in the journals of the House. On the grounds of age it is likely that he rather than his father was the coroner.2
Bunny died on 2 May 1608. In his will made 1 May and proved 6 Oct. of that year, he expected to enjoy everlasting life and to be present at the resurrection of the just, in company with ‘all the holy angels and blessed saints’. Legacies went to his children and servants and provision was made for the poor of Normanton. He was succeeded by his son Francis, his eldest son having been killed in Ireland in 1599.3
