Biography
Bampfylde was returned as a Tory for Exeter on his family’s interest as soon as he had come of age in 1743, voting against the Administration in all recorded divisions. He was unopposed for the county in 1747. When the 2nd Lord Egmont wrote in his electoral survey c.1749-50 that Bampfylde might come over in the event of the death of George II, Frederick, Prince of Wales, commented ‘dubio’. He died 15 July 1776.
