Biography
John Essington1 (not to be confused with the Member for Aylesbury 1710-15) was returned as a Whig at New Romney in 1727 with the Duke of Dorset’s ‘privity’.2 Unseated on petition, he died on 8 Apr. 1729, ‘in Newgate where he was imprisoned for debt’.3
