Biography
Patrick Heron’s family had been at Kirroughtrie since the early fifteenth century. A well-known cattle breeder and agriculturalist, he made money in the cattle trade, considerably enlarging the family estates.1 During the 1715 rising he joined Lord Lovat to fight the rebels in Galloway, but ran away at the first encounter.2 Returned for Kirkcudbright Stewartry in 1727, he voted consistently with the Administration He died 22 Oct. 1761, three weeks after his only surviving son.
