Biography
The son of the well known merchant, economist, and Tory politician, North was the uncle of the 6th Lord North and Grey, one of the Jacobite leaders implicated in the Atterbury plot in 1722. Himself one of the leading Suffolk Tories, he was returned by Sir Thomas Hanmer for Thetford till 1722, when he transferred to Orford on the Price Devereux interest. From 1715 he voted against the Government in all recorded divisions except on the civil list arrears in 1729, when he was absent. He died 4 Feb. 1730.
